IN THIS ISSUE:
1: THE FACTS OF LIFE COACHING : CONTROLLING STRESS How to Control Stress. So much has been spoken and written about controlling stress. I'll share the expertise of others after I share my personal greatest tool for avoiding stress - ALLOW ENOUGH TIME. If I have the time to think things through, put important things into perspective and simply not rush, I'm much less likely to 'stress out'. In contrast, when deadlines are looming even the most miniscule task can present itself as overwhelming. That said, when you do feel stressed, here are a few suggestions to lessen its impact:
Last month, I encouraged you to schedule workouts first, and plan the rest of life around them. So, how's it going? If you still need some help and encouragement, a health buddy could be the answer. Here are some ideas that might encourage you to be more committed. How about someone to walk with - maybe a friend is struggling as much as you are at getting more active and would be thrilled at the prospect of not going it alone. If you're not geographically friendly with a buddy, how about using him/her to report to by phone or email each time a workout happens: maybe remind each other if the exercise isn't happening often enough. What about a workout wager? The one who logs in the most miles walked, sit-ups or trips to the gym gets taken to the movies (or Paris) at the end of the month. 3: WEIGHT LOSS: FOOD FOR THOUGHT AND THOUGHTS ON FOOD : EATING OUT - KEEP YOUR HEALTHY EATING PLAN ALIVE! Here are 5 questions that will allow you to be as good to yourself when eating out as you are when eating in:
Here is something for you or for women you know who are wistful about the extra pounds they carry through every minute of life and are ready to get serious about dropping excess weight. Here is the opportunity to lose the weight with the support of a group, as 12 weekly one hour calls address weight loss from every direction - self esteem, stress, sabotage from self and others as well as learning to make great food choices and exercise habits. This group targets women between 20 and 60 who have 20 to 60 pounds to lose and who have 20 to 60 % of the self discipline and self esteem that they need in order to be successful! This could save someone's life! Pass it on. Contact Lynda for further information. Please pass this along: save a life! 4:THOUGHTS FROM MY SWING: FEELING LUCKY I'm writing this during the second week of August, projecting my feelings to the time you'll be reading this. The calendar disagrees, but for me the end of summer is Labour Day - very soon. It marks the end of the warmer, less structured and more carefree time of my year. I've had a plethora of opportunities to play and for this I'm ever so grateful. Here's the recap: grateful for the walks with friends, the friendly competition of tennis games, the day sailing on Lake Ontario with no land in sight, the trips to cottages, the Scrabble tournaments, the outdoor dinners and coffees and all of the fun times with family and friends. I'd love to hear what the highlights of your summer are.
