1: Always an Opportunity
For years I've taken liberties with the significance of Labour Day. It marks the "end" of summer, along with an opportunity for new beginnings! It's not like I personally am embarking on a fresh school year, but somehow it feels like a great time for a new start, complete with imagining what I want for the next while, along with setting a few goals and making additional plans.
Now in case you wish to try this, here's the catch. The key word is focus not quantity! So part of this rethinking includes letting go as well as taking on. Think about enjoying your life and fully participating in factors that are consistent with living your values.
I look at various facets of my life and ask and answer some questions. Here are a few suggestions to get you started. What do I like? What feels good? What's important? What tires me in a futile way? How can I live better? What bores me? What's missing?
The idea is to step outside yourself and become an observer who has ultimate knowledge of you along with objectivity.

2: Quite the restaurant!
Dallas Texas. Wandering downtown with a friend. We stumbled across "Heart Attack Grill" - a restaurant with the motto "tastes......worth dying for! Home of the Double Bypass Burger."
Here are some quotes from their "take this home" menu:
........and the restaurant was full!!!!!!!!

3: Can We be Kinder?
A beautiful day!
An admittedly overweight friend and I, in non-pool clothing, were sitting poolside catching up. My friend interrupted herself mid-sentence, catching her breath as she watched an obviously really heavy woman in her bathing suit walk leisurely around the pool area for 10 minutes or so and eventually jump in.
My friend said "I could never do that!" Frankly, I'm not sure that I'd be totally comfortable doing that.
I suspect that we all have self-conscious moments. But, isn't it a shame that society has us so pressured to expect perfection and also zeroing in on flaws rather than strengths. We do it to ourselves and we do it as we judge others. And I'm just as guilty! That woman in the bathing suit is really pretty yet the grabber for my friend was the imperfect body rather than the pretty face.
I have no answers here - only a question: how do we get kinder to ourselves and the world out there? Care to share your answers?
