Welcome!
What's in it for you?    A connection, some challenges, a few questions to encourage you to simply reflect about how you currently live your life versus how you want to live your life.  Feel free to share your thoughts with me;  I'd love to hear from you.  This is an invitation to focus on where you'd like to change and grow.

1.  PERSONAL LIFE COACHING:
A Disguise

2.  THOUGHTS ON WEIGHT:
Great News

3.  THOUGHTS FROM MY SWING:
And the Award for Being Most Powerful goes to...

1:  A Disguise

Oprah and Deepak are now finishing up their second on-line 21-day Meditation Challenge.  It's called "Miraculous Relationships".  I signed up for it expecting a plethora of thoughts and encouragement to help in dealing with the occasional challenging individual (anyone come to mind?) as they arise.  I sometimes find myself with analytical-somewhat-judgmental thoughts and would love the recipe to not think that way.

Each segment of the Meditation Challenge includes a different lesson.  And was I ever surprized when I realized after a few sessions, that the "Miraculous Relationships" were always about my relationship with myself.  So often those "challenging individuals" whom I mentioned are perceived as challenging simply because they trigger a doubt, an inadequacy or a vulnerability within me, about me.

So the message I'm finally getting is about self-acceptance.  Oprah and Deepak's bottom line is basically "the more fully you accept yourself with the bumps and blemishes, the more you'll be able to accept others fully, with more understanding and acceptance".

Now it sounds so easy...................but...................

2:  Great news!!

It turns out that one of my food addictions is actually extremely healthy!
Do you know what fruit has the highest amount of fibre?

Raspberries!!!

So, what does fibre do for us?

  • Helps digestion - great for the bowels in terms of control, regularity and more.
  • Can lower bad cholesterol, thus help protect against heart disease.
  • Can regulate blood sugar.
  • May protect against cancer.
  • Provides energy for our bodies.
  • Aids in Weight Loss.
What are the best sources of Fibre?
  • Raspberries, and other berries
  • Beans
  • Whole grains (bread, pasta etc.)
  • Popcorn (more good news)
  • Nuts, especially almonds, pecans and walnuts
  • Brown rice
  • The skin of baked potatoes
  • Bran cereal - look for a minimum of 5 grams of fibre/serving
  • Oatmeal, barley and quinoa
  • Vegetables, especially the crunchy ones
How much?  Very roughly, a minimum of about 20 grams (depending on your weight and food intake) of fibre daily.

Are you convinced?  Happy fibering!

3:  And the Award for being Most Powerful goes to.....ATTITUDE.

I wish it weren't so.  Indoor or outdoor, I've identified myself as a plant-killer.

But last week, just before leaving on holiday, my friend/neighbour asked me to tend to her two plants while away for twelve days.  No - she wasn't kidding.  How could I say "no"?  So after I reiterated my plant history, I agreed and she brought over two plants with pretty simple watering instructions.  The plants were big and beautiful.  Scary.

But lo and behold, eleven days later, they're alive and well and I'm extremely optimistic for their survival.

Why can hers thrive while mine don't survive?

Obviously my Attitude to nurturing my own plants is nonchalant while my attitude towards keeping her treasures healthy is "No choice - I have to do this right!!!

So..... where else in my life and yours do we say "I can't" when it's only our Attitude that makes that true?

Next time you think those words, perhaps ask yourself "Really? or am I simply choosing not to?".

Your Attitude is your choice!  Remember that!!!

I'm wishing you whatever you wish for yourself!

Warmly,
Lynda
