What's in it for you? A connection, some challenges, a few questions to
encourage you to simply reflect about how you currently live your life versus how you want
to live your life. Feel free to share your thoughts with me; I'd love to hear from
you. This is an invitation to focus on where you'd like to change and grow.
IN THIS ISSUE:
1. PERSONAL LIFE COACHING:
Creating a more capable you!
2. FOOD FOR THOUGHT AND THOUGHTS ON FOOD OR WEIGHT:
The BIG question
3. THOUGHTS FROM MY SWING:
1: Creating a more capable you!
For some of us, the start of 2011 prompts thoughts of what we want and no longer want in our lives and perhaps setting some goals. These thoughts could be disguised as new year's resolutions or might come in a more informal package. Either way, for your thoughts to become your reality, behaviour changes are a must. Here are a few suggestions that may facilitate more consciousness, more knowledge and more results.
When your productive pursuits wax and your non-productive pursuits wane, the odds of positive change turn vastly in your favour.
- Read Books. Browse the shelves of your favourite book stores or library for new books that change your way of thinking and stimulate your brain. Even one idea from a self-help guru can stimulate a difference.
- Seek out CDs and cassettes with a self-improvement theme and then listen and re-listen to them.
- Attend a lecture or two. Going with a friend or cohort and having a cup/glass of your favourite liquid after, may help you pick out more gems.
- Ally yourself with someone who's achieved success in an area you're exploring.
- Connect with a bounce buddy (someone whom you can bounce ideas off of) who can perhaps add a different perspective.
- Limit your TV watching and computer game playing or whatever else is inhaling your precious time.
May I help? Need a bounce buddy? How about a complimentary 30 minutes on the telephone to get you going?

2: The BIG question...
What will it take to allow you to say "yes, I'm now willing and prepared to take on permanent weight loss"? Perhaps it's some huffing and puffing that you never noticed before. Maybe it's a long and hard look in the mirror. Or are you tired a lot of the time? Do you shy away from social events because you have nothing to wear (clothes don't quite fit)? Do you look at your children or grandchildren and wonder how long you'll be here to share in their milestones? Does attacking your weight in earnest feel so, so hard? - too hard?
What rationale is stopping you? the time? the money? the fear of another failure?
How would it be for you if you were energetic, enthusiastic about life, knowing you were looking after yourself so you could indeed look after the ones you love, feeling healthy, more approving of what you see in that mirror and more confident overall? What difference would that weight loss make in your life?

3: On the tightrope!
Driving. The radio was on. My thoughts were wandering. The weather wasn't great.
Oops - there goes my exit.
Misdirected focus! Again. Reminding myself about staying present is s-o-o not new. Nevertheless - an ongoing challenge.
Meeting a friend for coffee. Friend charges in 20 minutes late with "so sorry - engrossed in the crossword and totally forgot the time!" Aah! Focus!
Balancing on the tightrope of our lives!
