What's in it for you?  A connection, some challenges, a few questions to encourage you to simply reflect about how you live your life versus how you want to live your life.   Feel free to share the answers with me:  I'd love to hear from you.   This is an invitation to focus on where you'd like to change and grow.

Summertime...  and the Livin' is Easy

Shrink your Butt:  Grow your Self Esteem!

The facts about Flax

A Bit of Irony

1:  Summertime...  and the living is easy!

And so the song goes.   But is that how your life goes?

The song was composed by George and Ira Gershwin for the opera Porgy and Bess.   It has been labeled as one of the most recorded songs in history - over 2000 renditions!  (For complete words visit http://www.stlyrics.com/songs/g/georgegershwin8836/summertime299720.html ) It's even a complimentary ring tone for your cell phone.

June is almost gone!  And summer will be quick to follow.  What changes can you make now with your time challenges that will allow you to live the words?   I'm big into saying 'no' these days when my gremlin is answering for me and taking on another task or responsibility that's stepping on my "and the living is easy".

So what can you do or not do that will give you the gift of thoroughly being able to enjoy our precious summer?   Care to share?  lyndawise@yahoo.com

3:  The facts about flax

How can 2 tablespoons of anything hold so much power?   The mighty flax seed packs quite a wallop when it's in its ground state.   Left whole, it can pass right through without sharing any of its treasures.  Both brown and golden have the same nutritional value. Here's the testimonial to the flax seed!
  • Because of the omega 3 fatty acid, it controls insulin which reduces the feeling of hunger, the temptation of cravings and the need to overeat
  • Also because of its omega 3 fatty acid, it burns calories up to 3 times as fast as animal fats.
  • Overall - good for weight loss.
  • Flax is rich in fibre - and you know what that does!
  • The lignans in flax have a unique hormone balancing function which rids the body of toxic estrogen and reduces the risk of breast cancer
  • The lignans also help reduce some hair loss (note:  only in the ground seeds not the flax oil)
  • Nutritionally - 2 Tbsp.  contains around 100 calories, about 4 g.  protein and about 4.5 g.  fibre
Painless flax seeds! Sprinkle ground seeds on salads, vegetables or cereal.   Add them to protein shakes if you drink protein shakes.

You can use a coffee grinder to grind them up (not too much at once, since you want them freshly ground when possible).  Store them in the fridge or freezer for short periods.

4:  A bit of Irony

It's only when one stops taking life for granted that one can recognize how much has been taken for granted in the past!

I'm trying very hard to make moments count and consciously appreciate the miracles around me - especially in nature.

As I sit on my swing on a nice porch on a nice house on a nice street, I'm awe-struck by the secrets held in the exquisite surrounding trees.   I wonder how many shades of green can exist!  How many perfectly formed leaves does one simple maple tree produce in a season?  How does each tree know amidst our erratic weather pattern that it's time to go from barren to beautiful?

And to think- for so long I took much of it for granted!

So now I'm curious - what else is passing me by unnoticed or unappreciated?  My enhanced awareness has added unimaginable pleasure to my daily life and I'm greedy enough to want more.

This month I invite you to perhaps consider what's passing YOU by.   What joy is available just by paying more attention to the obvious?

Wishing you what you wish for yourself.

It will be my pleasure to treat you to a gift certificate for each referral who becomes a client!
