Welcome!
What's in it for you?  A connection, some challenges, a few questions to encourage you to simply reflect about how you currently live your life versus how you want to live your life.  Feel free to share your thoughts with me;  I'd love to hear from you.  This is an invitation to focus on where you'd like to change and grow.

1.  PERSONAL LIFE COACHING:   I'm Guilty.

2.  FOOD FOR THOUGHT and THOUGHTS ON WEIGHT:
Why Coaching Does Work for Permanent Weight Loss!

3.  THOUGHTS FROM MY SWING:   When I Grow Up...

1:  I'm Guilty

Judgment is just an opinion that starts in your head and sometimes reveals itself in what you say and/or do.   It could be positive or negative - but let's look at the negative type.   "How could he drive that way?", "Could she move any more slowly?", "Why that stupid grin?", "Must she always be in power?", "She's even heavier than I am", "Why can't he be more helpful?" .... and the list goes on.   According to the renowned guru Eckart Tolle, author of A New Earth, this way of thinking is not about the individual who's the target, but rather it's about our own ego.   We unconsciously project how we would like to act in a given environment and "protect" ourselves by putting down others who don't match up.   This is not in our best interest, often causing considerable stress.

Guilty!

Is there a cure?   Who knows?   But step 1, according to Tolle, as with many of our self-damaging thoughts, is awareness.   The next time you find yourself in that place of judgment, censor your thoughts, take a few belly breaths and intentionally refocus your thinking on something pleasant.

I'm working on it.   And you???

P.S. After writing this piece this morning, I rushed out to my exercise class, and there in front of me in the left turn lane, was a smallish truck, with the driver's foot on the brake as it sat, motionless, throughout the whole green arrow.   What a test that was!   I really fumed for the first bit of time, then remembered what I was supposed to do - the breathing and refocusing and thinking about how really important this wasn't.   Happily, I did not have a heart attack (I was SO annoyed!).   But the better response is not at all automatic and I need to work at this, seriously!

It's another relatively little way to lessen life's mundane stress.   Hitting home at all?

2:  Why Coaching Does Work for Permanent Weight Loss!!

Ask an expert:
Question:   What's the best recipe for Weight Loss?
Answer: Did you expect only one answer?   There are as many answers as there are experts!

Here are four fundamental elements making up what many experts believe to be the cure-all for Weight Loss:

  1. Eat Healthy - lots of fruit and veggies, protein at every meal and complex carbs.   (There's lots more to this if you care to discuss it, lyndawise@yahoo.com.)
  2. Exercise at least four times per week, including both muscle building and aerobic varieties.
  3. Sleep - according to your personal needs - likely 7to 8 hours per night - every night!
  4. Water - drink eight glasses every day.
Nothing new or earth-shattering here.   But what I really want to make clear is #5 - and that's about addressing the behaviours which have led you to those extra pounds.   And that's why coaching works towards your weight-loss success.   Looking at the triggers that lead you to self-abuse (yup - that's what you're doing to yourself when you don't respect your physical needs) is the most important tool that will promote gradual, permanent change according to your personal values and habits.   Only YOU can give yourself the optimum opportunity for good health, longevity and happiness.

3:   When I grow up...

Yesterday at the grocery store, there was a nice looking man ahead of me, carrying a case of bottled water (24 bottles).   As he placed the case on the counter and was checking out, I overheard a word or two as he updated the cashier.   I only heard "birthday" and "last week".   He paid for and lifted his purchase and headed toward the parking lot.   My turn.   From the cashier "I can't believe he can carry that water.   He just celebrated his 93rd birthday."   All I could think of was that because he does things like lifting heavy cases, he's drastically increasing his chances of celebrating more and more birthdays.

When I grow up, I want to be just like the guy in front of me at the grocery store!!

Wishing you what you wish for yourself,
Lynda
