What's in it for you? A connection, some challenges, a few questions to
encourage you to simply reflect about how you currently live your life versus how you want
to live your life. Feel free to share your thoughts with me; I'd love to hear from
you. This is an invitation to focus on where you'd like to change and grow.
IN THIS ISSUE:
1. PERSONAL LIFE COACHING:
2. FOOD FOR THOUGHT AND THOUGHTS ON FOOD OR WEIGHT:
Why Coaching works for LONG TERM Weight Loss
3. THOUGHTS FROM MY SWING:
I almost forgot...
1: Brain Health
For years we've been hearing that doing crossword puzzles and like activities, keeps our brain active and protects us from Alzheimers. Then I heard that rather than a cause and effect relationship, the theory changed to "the people who would focus on crosswords are mentally more acute in a certain way and therefore more resistant to waning mental capability". How does one know?
The newest theory states that lots of things help us keep our marbles. Here they are and there's some good news here!
......and none of these ideas can hurt!
- Watching TV shows that encourage problem solving (detective types)
- Getting 7-8 hours of sleep/night or indulging in 20-30 minute naps in the afternoon to compensate for what you don't get at night
- Eating a healthy breakfast - brain cannot store the nutrients it needs and needs to be refueled often.
- Taking on life-long learning, especially languages
- Spending time with friends
- Laughing a lot
2: Why Coaching works for LONG TERM Weight Loss
There are so many possibilities out there for losing weight. They all work for some individuals for a certain amount of time. But here's a scary statistic: 2 years after a weight-loss goal was reached, 98% of dieters had gained back what they lost and even more.
So why is Coaching different from all those alternatives? Because Coaching is not about dieting but is, rather, about lifestyle change and examining self sabotage. With Coaching, there is no diet to start and then end. Individuals learn to eat consciously and in moderation - totally vital techniques for long term success. In addition, my clients and I examine environments and triggers that encourage their regrettable choices and together we work on strategies for better decisions when the same circumstances reappear. Sounds easy but it's not. Even with coaching there will still be challenges. But having a strong support system on one's side sure helps! The only prerequisite for losing weight for the long term via coaching is that you have to want to lose the weight enough so that you're actually willing to change.

3: I almost forgot...
that it was time to write this newsletter. You hear it so often: time is flying by. September is loaded with new beginnings. It's time for apple picking and family get togethers and taking on more and more. This year I'm particularly blessed by my dear son's upcoming wedding.
I always encourage women who are over-the-top busy to say "NO". So now I'm walking my talk and right now I'm saying "NO" and am refusing to write the third section of the newsletter.
What can you say "NO" to that will offer just a tiny bit more ease?
Wishing you what you wish for yourself.
